(Age 47)
Passed away Friday, February 6, 2009 from a brain aneurism.

David was born on April 4, 1961 in Spokane, WA, where he lived for 44 years. He graduated from Mead High School in 1980 before attending Eastern Washington University where he graduated in 1986 with a BA in Business Administration. David's employment in Spokane included Rexcon Exploration Co., Kinney Shoe Stores, Fred Meyer and Burke's Distributing.

 David married Lesha Hastings on January 25, 2006 before moving to Western WA in February of 2006 with his step-children Jared, Jailyn and Jalayne Hastings. While living in Western WA, David worked a season for Seattle City Light as a tour guide on Diablo Lake, at The Home Depot in Burlington and Cascade Supply in Concrete he was a Sales Associate.

 David will be remembered by all who knew him as a devoted, loving, and patient husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He was honest and sincere and would help anyone and everyone. He was structured, solid, and reliable. He had a witty sense of humor, was quick to laugh and always had a smile on his face. He was inspired by mountain hikes in the North Cascades, a productive day completing a project and special moments with his family. David was an amazing man who will be deeply missed.

 David loved the outdoors and was an avid snow skier. He enjoyed hunting, cycling, taking pictures and restoring his Impala. His latest interest was woodworking where he built a microwave cart with cupboards, a coffee table and a large shoe shelf. David also loved nature. He kept the birds and squirrels around his home well fed. He enjoyed watching birds, identifying them in his bird book and from November to February, watching the Eagles along the Skagit River.

 One of David's biggest accomplishments was in 1980 when he biked across the United States with a friend from Spokane to Bar Harbor, ME.

 Survived by his wife, Lesha Hastings Skaer of Marblemount, WA; stepchildren Justin, Jared, Jailyn, and Jalayne Hastings; his mother Barbara Skaer of Spokane, WA; brother Bill, sister in law Debbie Skaer and their children Natalie, Christian, Aimee, Hillary and Elizabeth Skaer of Spokane; sister Sue Skaer, and her children with Mark Sidel: Brandon and Taylor Sidel of Spokane; grandmother Dorothy Burnett of Spokane; uncle Bill Skaer of Leesburg, FL; and cousin Diane Skaer of Oxnard, CA..

David was preceded in death by father, Lee Skaer, and also his sister, Tammy Skaer.

 Memorial services for David will be held at St. Marks Lutheran Church, 316 E 24th Ave, Spokane, WA 99203, (509) 747-6677 on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 1:00; Pastor Dick Finch officiating. His family and friends are invited to rejoice in his life and celebrate the great honor of knowing him.

David had a gentle spirit. I wasn't a close friend with him, but I remember that he was always very kind.

David's memorial was a beautiful celebration of his life. I didn't know him well but always was struck by his gentle nature and warm smile.
